Senior Manager, Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid work with onsite presence at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Lead and grow multiple agile engineering teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and high performance.
• Define and own the technical roadmap with stakeholders, delivering scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Drive responsible use of AI and automation by integrating models, APIs, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Align engineering strategy with business goals and represent engineering in cross-functional initiatives.
• Mentor and coach engineers, supporting continuous learning, feedback, and career development.

Requirements

• 12+ years of total software development experience.
• 6+ years in people management or technical leadership.
• Extensive experience with large-scale distributed systems, AWS cloud computing, and infrastructure.
• Proven experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and practical software development use cases.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and supporting engineering career growth.

Nice to have

• Experience with software architecture, performance tuning, and application security.
• Familiarity with Node, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS serverless patterns and infrastructure as code, preferably CDK.
• Background designing and operating robust data integration workflows.
• Experience in regulated, audit-heavy environments involving evidence, controls, and traceability.
