SVP of Engineering (Robotics)

Location: Majority on-site at offices in San Jose and Watsonville, California; travel may be required for customers, partners, field deployments, and company initiatives.

What you will do

• Lead engineering strategy and execution across software, hardware, autonomy, AI, applications, and platform development.
• Build, mentor, and scale a multidisciplinary engineering organization, including leadership development, hiring, succession planning, and performance management.
• Own architecture, roadmaps, staffing, budgets, milestones, resource allocation, and investment decisions across engineering.
• Drive integrated hardware and software systems for autonomous off-road platforms, emphasizing performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
• Establish planning processes, operating mechanisms, validation practices, release readiness standards, and execution metrics.
• Partner with product, operations, business development, customers, partners, and executive leadership on technical strategy, deployments, escalations, and major decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15+ years of engineering experience, including substantial leadership of both software and hardware organizations.
• Track record of delivering complex products from concept through deployment and commercialization in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, industrial automation, or related industries.
• Experience leading engineering leaders across hardware, autonomy, AI, application development, and platform engineering.
• Strong systems-level understanding of robotics and autonomous products, including software, hardware, AI, controls, and field performance.
• Experience with engineering budgets, headcount planning, cross-functional execution, and scaling organizations in startup or growth-stage environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in off-road autonomy, agriculture, construction, mining, or other field robotics applications.
• Experience delivering integrated autonomy platforms combining AI, robotics, vehicle systems, and customer-facing software.
• Experience scaling teams through pilot deployments, production ramp, and platform expansion.
• Experience building engineering leadership benches and succession plans.
