VP of Engineering (AI)

Location: On-site in Palo Alto, California; based in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and retain an engineering organization spanning ML, platform, and product engineering.
• Own engineering delivery, including roadmaps, execution, quality, and velocity.
• Partner with the CTO on architecture, technical strategy, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Establish scalable planning, code review, incident response, and on-call practices.
• Ensure reliability, security, compliance, data governance, and auditability for enterprise financial customers.
• Recruit senior talent, design the organizational structure, and represent engineering with customers, partners, and investors.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams at high-growth startups or enterprise software companies.
• Experience scaling an engineering organization from approximately 10 to 50+ engineers while maintaining velocity and quality.
• Deep technical fluency in modern ML/AI systems, distributed infrastructure, and enterprise SaaS.
• Experience operating enterprise products with strict security and compliance requirements.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Russian is required.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area for an on-site role in Palo Alto.

• Experience with LLM-based products, agentic systems, or applied research environments.
• Founder, founding engineer, or first VP of Engineering experience.
• Background in financial audit, accounting, compliance, fintech, or another regulated industry.
