Head of Engineering (Robotics)

What you will do

• Drive the software roadmap and technical execution across autonomy, navigation, perception, targeting, flight control, and cloud systems.
• Write production-level code and build prototypes while establishing scalable engineering processes.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-caliber software team with expertise in robotics, ML/AI, and embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, product, and operations teams to design fully integrated, resilient systems.
• Support testing, iteration, and deployment of software systems in real-world field conditions with emergency response partners.
• Develop simulation and testing environments to enable rapid iteration and performance improvements.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Sausalito, CA (On-site role).
• Approximately 10 years of software engineering experience, ideally in robotics, autonomous systems, drones, or aerospace.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in early-stage, fast-paced environments.
• Deep experience with embedded systems, perception, sensor fusion, autonomy stacks, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of autonomy frameworks such as ROS, PX4, or custom SLAM/navigation systems.
• Experience deploying software in real-world field conditions.
