TL;DR
Avionics Electrical Engineer (All Levels) (Spacecraft) (analog, digital, and control electronics): Designing and testing custom circuit boards and avionics devices for spacecraft with an accent on mixed-signal circuit design, hardware interfaces, and flight qualification. Focus on performing rigorous simulations, debugging electronics at board level, and owning hardware from board bring-up through flight operations.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Design and develop custom circuit boards for spacecraft, including analog, digital, and control electronics.
  • Perform analyses and simulations of avionics devices and systems.
  • Own hardware development from board bring-up and laboratory debugging through qualification and flight operations.
  • Define hardware interfaces and verify system requirements.
  • Establish and maintain high technical standards for avionics hardware.
  • Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, propulsion, GNC, and test teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in electronic component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal and analog circuit design, including ADCs, DACs, op-amps, filtering, and signal integrity.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics at board level.
  • Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain design rationale, and resolve concerns.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with Altium Designer.
  • Experience developing power converters, load switches, engine controllers, processors, or other specialized spacecraft or rocket hardware.
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
