Software Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with two days per week in the office

Salary: €48,000–€60,000 per year plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend platform components for SaaS-based transaction monitoring solutions.
• Develop features for complex workflow orchestration and large-scale data migrations.
• Contribute to technical and architectural decisions within a scrum team as systems evolve and scale.
• Write tests and take ownership of systems that ensure code quality.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, software engineers, SREs, and product specialists.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience developing production-grade applications with Kotlin or Java.
• Experience with high-scale applications, APIs handling large request volumes, or data-processing pipelines.
• Experience with containerization and cloud infrastructure.
• Ownership of software development from idea inception through production.
• Experience with testing, build, and deployment pipeline tooling, plus an understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Strong communication and writing skills, including technical documentation; a relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with ML engineers, SREs, and product specialists.
• Agile development experience and pair programming.
