Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully remote from Europe; onsite team events in Warsaw and global team offsites.

Salary: $80,000–$105,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own backend services, data and ML pipelines, and product infrastructure.
• Build systems that ingest and process large volumes of structured and unstructured data, including documents, third-party sources, and model outputs.
• Design and develop data-driven microservices with RESTful APIs.
• Build asynchronous and serverless workflows for production systems.
• Collaborate with full-stack, backend, ML, and platform engineers on system design, testing, and operations at scale.
• Deliver production systems that support commercial insurance underwriters and measurable customer impact.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
• Strong Python skills and solid fundamentals in at least one other programming language.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS and asynchronous or serverless workflows, including EC2 or Lambda.
• Strong design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
