TL;DR
Senior Project Architect (Nuclear Plant Design): Developing and coordinating architectural solutions for the Xe-100 nuclear plant with an accent on site planning, building design, spatial programming, and facility layouts. Focus on integrating architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, nuclear, and radiation protection systems while resolving complex design, constructability, modularization, and regulatory challenges.

Location: Onsite in Gaithersburg, Maryland, or Houston, Texas; 5 days in office. Standard hours are 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel up to 20%.

Salary: $180,000–$205,000 per year, base salary.

What you will do

  • Develop architectural designs for the Xe-100 plant, including site plans, layouts, elevations, sections, safety plans, schedules, and 3D models.
  • Create design criteria and specifications while applying architectural principles, codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Manage architectural deliverables across the design lifecycle, including planning, monitoring, and directing design efforts.
  • Coordinate integrated building-system design with structural, mechanical, electrical, nuclear, and radiation protection disciplines.
  • Work with construction teams on constructability, sequencing, material take-offs, cost estimates, schedules, and modularization.
  • Lead technical workstreams, resolve design issues, manage interfaces, and guide junior architects, engineers, and designers.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in architecture or a related engineering role.
  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience designing civil and industrial structures, commercial or residential buildings, power generation facilities, or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of spatial design, building programming, safety functions, materials, construction techniques, codes, standards, and environmental and economic impacts.
  • Experience with Revit, Smart 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Navisworks.
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Gaithersburg, MD, or Houston, TX, during Eastern Time office hours.
