Описание вакансии

Текст:
/
TL;DR
Senior Engineer, Reactor Vessel (Nuclear): Designing, analyzing, integrating, fabricating, and deploying reactor vessel structures, systems, and components for a first-of-a-kind fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor with an accent on pressure-boundary design, high-temperature structural analysis, and multidisciplinary interface coordination. Focus on translating system requirements into component designs, resolving complex spatial and technical interfaces, supporting fabrication and qualification, and ensuring compliance with nuclear codes, safety, inspection, and maintainability objectives.

Location: Onsite in Alameda, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; or Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Some travel may be required, up to 20%, to company sites, suppliers, fabrication shops, test facilities, or installation sites. The role may require schedule flexibility and extended hours during critical project milestones.

Salary: $140,600–$165,400 per year for employees working onsite at the Alameda, California headquarters.

Company

Develops fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor technology to support the transition to clean energy.

What you will do

  • Own the design scope for reactor vessel components, interfaces, and hardware packages.
  • Develop reactor vessel requirements, design bases, interface definitions, verification plans, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Lead mechanical design, structural and thermal analyses, pressure-boundary evaluations, and design integration reviews.
  • Coordinate spatial, thermal, structural, and functional interfaces with nuclear design, thermal hydraulics, materials, safety analysis, manufacturing, plant integration, and instrumentation and controls teams.
  • Support fabrication, inspection, installation, testing, maintenance, supplier oversight, acceptance activities, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Maintain configuration and technical change records, assess risks, participate in audits and failure analyses, and mentor junior engineers and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, nuclear component design, pressure vessel design, high-temperature systems, structural components, or complex hardware development.
  • Independent experience leading the design, analysis, fabrication support, testing, or qualification of pressure vessels, reactor vessels, or other safety-significant mechanical systems.
  • Experience with engineering documentation, mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, design reports, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, structural mechanics, pressure-boundary design, thermal expansion, bolted joints, weldments, high-temperature degradation, creep, fatigue, and creep-fatigue.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AVEVA, engineering analysis methods, FEA, system safety analysis, configuration management, and interface control.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections VIII or III, ANSI, ASTM, or ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly, dimensional inspection, GD&T, welding, machining, or fabrication of large metallic components.
  • Experience with reactor component lifecycle management, equipment qualification, inspection, testing, maintenance, or supplier oversight.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees and dependents.
  • Paid vacation and competitive compensation packages.
  • 401(k), pre-tax health insurance, dependent care, and commuter benefits through FSA programs.
  • Work across office, laboratory, manufacturing, assembly, test, supplier, construction, and installation environments.
  • Safety-focused work involving PPE, hazard awareness, and components important to nuclear reactor operation.
