Senior Civil Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: 100% onsite at the El Segundo, California headquarters

Salary: $133.5K–$184.8K annually, plus equity

hirify.global is a startup developing mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

What you will do

• Design and own concrete structures, including spent fuel dry cask storage systems, facility foundations, and precast elements.
• Conduct trade studies and develop designs for static, thermal, and seismic loading conditions.
• Perform reinforced and precast concrete design, static strength and durability analysis, and seismic qualification using hand calculations and finite element tools.
• Develop construction, fabrication, and testing plans for precast and cast-in-place concrete elements.
• Manage bills of materials, suppliers, fabricators, and subassembly design, fabrication, and test schedules.
• Own FMEA risk analysis and coordinate structural requirements with mechanical, civil, geotechnical, and other engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience designing concrete or reinforced concrete structures.
• 4+ years of structural analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, or SAP2000.
• Experience with reinforced concrete design codes such as ACI 318 or similar.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
• Ability and willingness to work fully onsite at the El Segundo headquarters.

Nice to have

• Active PE license.
• Experience with precast concrete systems, dry cask or spent nuclear fuel storage, and critical-facility structural design.
• Experience with seismic qualification, thermal expansion, and thermal gradients in concrete structures.
• Experience with GD&T, construction tolerancing, FMEA, and interdisciplinary engineering.
• Experience designing hardware or structures that were fabricated, deployed, and iteratively improved.
