Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote-first across the United States and Canada

Salary: CAD 299,300–372,600 starting base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 20% of base, equity, and RRSP match.

What you will do

• Own a product domain, platform area, or cross-team capability and set its technical direction over the next one to two years.
• Take ambiguous business problems from initial concept through production and measure customer outcomes.
• Build scalable platforms and tooling adopted by multiple engineering teams.
• Make architecture decisions spanning teams, including decisions that are costly to reverse.
• Define AI development patterns, curated context, evaluation harnesses, and safeguards for agent-generated output.
• Partner with product, design, and data, while coaching Senior Engineers through complex and ambiguous decisions.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience shipping production systems and making high-impact technical decisions.
• Ability to independently navigate ambiguous problems and drive them toward delivery.
• Demonstrated experience changing how a team builds with AI and establishing practices that persist.
• Strong depth in either platforms, reliability, security, AI tooling, or customer-facing product development, with fluency in the other area.
• Ability to influence without direct reports and build systems relied on by multiple teams.
• Must be based in the United States or Canada.
