Senior Staff Software Engineer (FinTech)

Location: Mountain View, US; hybrid work with in-person attendance at the Mountain View HQ two days per week

Salary: $279,000–$341,000 base annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for the Identity & Trust platform.
• Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives across multiple services, engineering teams, and organizational boundaries.
• Design secure, highly available distributed systems and APIs using microservices, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, and MySQL.
• Architect capabilities for authentication, authorization, KYC, identity verification, PII protection, secure document processing, identity federation, and user deduplication.
• Establish reusable platform primitives, technical standards, APIs, documentation, reliability practices, SLOs, observability, and incident response processes.
• Advance responsible AI-powered and agentic engineering workflows while mentoring senior engineers and partnering with Product, Security, Risk, Data Science, Infrastructure, Compliance, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with progression into Staff or Senior Staff-level technical leadership.
• Experience defining technical strategy and leading architecture for large-scale distributed systems or platform infrastructure.
• Deep hands-on experience with secure, highly available backend systems, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms, Kubernetes, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong expertise in identity, trust, security, privacy, or regulated-data systems, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, MFA, identity federation, and token management.
• Production experience with identity platforms such as Okta, Auth0, Keycloak, or comparable internal infrastructure, plus proficiency in Java, C#, Go, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with operational reliability, AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows, mentoring senior technical talent, and communicating complex strategies to technical and executive audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in FinTech, identity, fraud, privacy, security, compliance-sensitive, or other regulated industries.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
