Product Engineer - NPI & Manufacturing Readiness

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand — in office. International travel requirement: 5–10%.

What you will do

• Transition new electronics products from early concepts and prototypes through manufacturing and final delivery.
• Develop manufacturing processes and production methodologies with design engineering, purchasing, quality teams, and global manufacturing partners.
• Qualify suppliers and improve production quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability through lean manufacturing practices.
• Analyze manufacturing, test, and field-quality defects and lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop, validate, troubleshoot, and support manufacturing test fixtures and test environments.
• Author and manage process documentation, test plans, and engineering change orders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in electronics and mechanical manufacturing environments.
• Experience developing, validating, troubleshooting, or supporting manufacturing test fixtures.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, assembly processes, test systems, and quality metrics.
• Ability to analyze production workflows, identify process constraints, and implement improvements.
• Professional fluency in English and strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with PCB assemblies, electronics manufacturing processes, and production test environments.
• Experience with Agile or similar documentation management systems.
• Background in electronic manufacturing test environments and control software.
