What you will do
- Develop, optimize, validate, and maintain ZEISS CALYPSO programs for bridge CMMs using tactile probing, optical, and scanning technologies.
- Set up and operate ZEISS CMMs for first article, in-process, final, and investigative inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and complex GD&T requirements to create accurate, repeatable inspection programs.
- Analyze dimensional inspection results, troubleshoot measurement and fixturing issues, and support root cause investigations.
- Generate inspection reports, dimensional data packages, ballooned drawings, and AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
- Improve inspection fixtures, probe configurations, metrology workflows, programming standards, training, MSA, and advanced metrology technology adoption.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Quality, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 8+ years of experience in CMM programming, dimensional inspection, or precision metrology in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Advanced experience programming and operating ZEISS CMMs with CALYPSO, including complex alignments, PCM or parameterized programming, scanning strategies, stylus management, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently create, validate, and safely prove out CMM programs from engineering drawings and CAD models, and train operators.
- Strong knowledge of advanced GD&T, CMM fundamentals, probing behavior, thermal influences, fixturing, calibration, repeatability, measurement uncertainty, and metrology practices.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 quality systems, AS9102 FAIs, nonconformance documentation, inspection planning, and electronic quality records.
Nice to have
- ZEISS CALYPSO advanced training or certification and experience with ZEISS applications, installations, upgrades, relocations, or acceptance testing.
- Experience with ZEISS VAST, RDS, XXT, optical sensors, rotary tables, or offline CALYPSO programming.
- Experience with PolyWorks Inspector, 3D scanning, laser trackers, portable arms, structured-light systems, or point-cloud inspection.
- Experience working with composite parts.
