TL;DR
Sr. Specialist – L2 Drive Energy Integration (Automotive): Integrating and validating drive and energy systems for next-generation Software Defined Vehicle platforms with an accent on propulsion controls, charging, battery management, regenerative braking, thermal systems, and vehicle networking. Focus on building HIL and SIL validation, resolving ECU communication and diagnostic issues, and ensuring safe power-state transitions across prototype, bench, dyno, and vehicle environments.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings, company events, and occasional travel are required.

Annual base salary: $140,000–$170,000, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing all-electric and range-extender powertrains for rugged electric pickup trucks and SUVs.

What you will do

  • Integrate domain controllers and distributed ECUs into the vehicle E/E architecture, focusing on drive and energy systems.
  • Own software integration and validation across vehicle maturity, performance, and release gates, approving integration builds by milestone.
  • Integrate and validate propulsion, battery management, charging, regenerative braking, thermal management, power distribution, torque management, and energy optimization features.
  • Support hardware and software bring-up, calibration validation, and vehicle-level testing across prototype, bench, HIL, SIL, dyno, and vehicle environments.
  • Validate CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet communication, including network topology, gateway routing, signal databases, bandwidth, and bus loading.
  • Validate bootloader, flashing, AUTOSAR partitioning, diagnostic behavior, UDS/DoIP timing, DTC accuracy, wake/sleep strategies, and power-state transitions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle E/E architecture, ECU software stacks, automotive communication protocols, UDS diagnostics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience developing and verifying plant and control models in MATLAB/Simulink for HIL testing with dSpace ControlDesk and AutomationDesk.
  • Expertise with Jira, GitHub or GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, and ALM/PLM tools such as Siemens Polarion, IBM DOORS Next Gen, or PTC Windchill.
  • Familiarity with embedded software, A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS, CANalyzer, CANoe, and vehicle network tools.
  • Ability to work in the Charlotte office 4–5 days per week and participate in in-person meetings and travel.
