Senior Avionics Hardware Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design PCB-level electronics across schematic capture, layout, validation, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing test.
• Translate mission and company objectives into subsystem requirements, designs, and development milestones.
• Serve as an avionics subject matter expert for satellite, reentry vehicle, and payload hardware.
• Collaborate with flight software, thermal, GNC, structures, pharmaceutical, mission operations, and integration teams.
• Own product acceptance and qualification testing for thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMI environments.
• Lead root cause analysis of test failures, define mitigations, and support system-level integration testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of direct electronics hardware development experience.
• Experience delivering flight-critical electrical hardware from schematic capture through environmental qualification.
• Knowledge of signal integrity, power and grounding layout, analog/digital filtering, mixed-signal circuits, load switches, and switch-mode DC:DC converters.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or another scripting and data-analysis language, plus communication protocols such as SPI, RS422, and 1000BASE-T.

Nice to have

• Advanced electronic circuit design and analysis skills.
• Knowledge of physics, mathematics, and chemistry fundamentals relevant to harsh space environments.
• Experience with aerospace sensors and actuators, including RTDs, pressure transducers, brushless motors, solenoid valves, thermocouples, stepper motors, and encoders.
