Mechanical Design Engineer (Solar)

What you will do

• Develop steel frame components and contribute to new and existing product designs.
• Assess manufacturability and optimize designs for scalability, cost, and mass production.
• Work with frame suppliers and module manufacturers to translate manufacturing and compatibility findings into design improvements.
• Set up and establish best practices for module testing, including failure analysis and communication of results.
• Perform mechanical and structural engineering using CAD, FEA, design optimization, tolerance stack-ups, prototype generation, fatigue analysis, and manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct competitive analysis of steel frame products and support multiple engineering projects and priorities.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks, ePDM, and FEA; ANSYS is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, modeling and tolerance standards, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with DFM for sheet-metal stampings and roll-forming, mass-production manufacturing, part validation, prototyping, and mechanical failure analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, project-prioritization ability, and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of roll forming.
• Experience in solar, module, or racking design.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, pilot runs, and production ramp-up.
• Experience with Confluence, Arena, Miro, or Jira.
