Mechanical/Product Design Engineer

Develops consumer-facing hardware products requiring integrated mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing collaboration.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design of consumer hardware from concept through mass production.
• Create and maintain Class-A surface models, detailed CAD assemblies, CAD libraries, and release packages.
• Translate industrial design intent into manufacturable geometry while preserving product aesthetics.
• Drive DFM and DFA reviews with contract manufacturers and manage prototyping from foam models through EVT, DVT, and PVT builds.
• Define tolerances, GD&T, materials, and finishes to achieve premium fit and finish.
• Resolve integration challenges with electrical, firmware, operations, and manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• 4+ years of mechanical design experience, including at least 2 years in consumer electronics.
• Expert proficiency in Fusion 360, SOLIDWORKS, or NX, with demonstrated mastery of surfacing and Class-A modeling.
• Hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.
• Strong understanding of plastics, insert molding, sheet metal, and CMF finishing processes.
• Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, and the full NPI process with CM/ODM partners.
• Professional working proficiency in English and a portfolio of well-resolved products are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with wearables, robotics, or complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Industrial design or formal product design training.
• Familiarity with soft goods, overmolding, or multi-material assemblies.
• Experience presenting design rationale to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Onshape for collaborative cloud-based CAD workflows.
