Senior DevOps Validation Engineer (AWS)

Location: 100% remote within the US; hybrid work is available for candidates based in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro areas.

What you will do

• Design and build automated validation frameworks for cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, deployment workflows, and platform services.
• Develop production-quality automation and test utilities using Python, Go, or similar programming languages.
• Validate AWS networking and infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, IAM, security groups, and load balancers.
• Integrate infrastructure validation into CI/CD pipelines and create integration, regression, smoke, resilience, and failure-recovery tests.
• Test Kubernetes and containerized environments for configuration, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Partner with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security, and Compliance teams to improve infrastructure testability, observability, release safety, and audit readiness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering, DevOps engineering, infrastructure automation, or similarly code-intensive experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or another general-purpose language, with experience building maintainable automation, frameworks, services, or internal tools.
• Hands-on AWS infrastructure and networking experience, including VPCs, routing, IAM, security groups, and load balancing.
• Strong experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience, plus strong knowledge of Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, reliability, failure recovery, and operational resilience.
• Experience with observability, infrastructure troubleshooting, security hardening, compliance requirements, and collaboration across DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security, and Compliance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terratest, pytest, infrastructure automation platforms, configuration drift detection, policy-as-code, or compliance-as-code.
• Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, or other regulated cloud environments.
• Experience with container security, chaos engineering, resilience testing, secrets management, IAM, PAM, or zero-trust architectures.
• AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or related technical certifications.
