Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid; available locations include Austin, TX; Lisbon, Portugal; and London, United Kingdom. Applicants progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, resilient systems that support company growth.
• Develop tools that improve developer productivity and help product teams deploy and operate services safely.
• Harden platforms against security threats and resource contention.
• Improve development systems, engineering practices, and the efficiency of CPU, bandwidth, and storage management.
• Partner with application teams on system architecture and drive initiatives that improve engineering productivity.
• Respond to and prevent incidents affecting core platforms.

Requirements

• Professional experience building and managing large-scale distributed systems or Linux production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one systems programming or scripting language, such as Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python.
• Experience managing containerized workloads at scale with Kubernetes, Docker, or similar platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated infrastructure testing, and source control workflows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing complex system-level failures.
• This position may involve access to information subject to U.S. export control laws; authorization to receive controlled technology without export-license sponsorship may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack.
• Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, storage subsystems, memory management, TCP/IP, and DNS.
• Contributions to open-source systems software or participation in the systems engineering community.
