Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; on-site, with in-person attendance 4–5 days per week

Salary: $300,000–$400,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build systems that enable autonomous buildings to operate and communicate intelligently.
• Work directly with customers to develop and own product features from design through deployment.
• Improve the scalability and reliability of core infrastructure.
• Propose and implement architecture improvements and design patterns.
• Collaborate with product and design to turn AI capabilities into user-facing experiences.
• Ship frequent production improvements while balancing speed, quality, testing, observability, and continuous integration.

Requirements

• 6+ years of coding experience.
• Experience leading the design, delivery, and long-term ownership of multiple production-grade products.
• Strong understanding of system design and scalable architecture principles.
• Ability to solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance.
• Startup mindset with ownership, urgency, pragmatism, and a bias for action.
• Willingness to work in person at the New York City office 4–5 days per week.
