Product Counsel (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States

Salary: $168,000–$231,000 per year, plus bonus

What you will do

• Advise product management, development, engineering, support, and marketing teams on commercial terms, privacy, data protection, global regulatory compliance, privacy-by-design, and responsible AI use.
• Guide product design and deployment by assessing legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in emerging technologies.
• Draft agreements, terms of use, and public-facing disclosures.
• Lead complex technology transactions and negotiate commercial and licensing agreements.
• Monitor cybersecurity and AI regulations, review third-party terms, and translate requirements into practical guidance.
• Shape the legal and commercial strategy for new products while balancing risk, adoption, and business goals.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.
• 8–12 years of experience in a national law firm or in-house legal department, focused on product counseling and technology transactions.
• Experience advising on AI applications, cloud services, data privacy, and cybersecurity standards.
• Ability to explain complex legal and technical concepts clearly to business partners.
• Strong organization, prioritization, attention to detail, verbal and written communication, and independent working skills.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Technical background or prior internal audit experience.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
