Software Developer (Leadership)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom; full-time onsite. Hybrid and flexible arrangements may be available subject to business requirements. UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is mandatory: candidates must be sole UK nationals, hold a valid British passport, and have been continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years.

What you will do

• Support software engineers in developing software products and solutions through technical guidance, code reviews, and hands-on assistance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver software projects on time and within scope.
• Mentor team members through feedback, coaching, and career development planning.
• Contribute to software engineering strategy, technology assessments, architectural discussions, and engineering best practices.
• Manage project tasks, priorities, timelines, resources, and budgets while identifying and mitigating delivery risks.
• Support recruitment and onboarding while promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 6 years of relevant software engineering and development experience, including at least 2 years in technical leadership or mentoring.
• Production experience with C/C++ and strong proficiency in Linux operating systems.
• Practical Python experience and strong programming and debugging skills across multiple languages.
• Experience with software development methodologies and best practices, including Agile, Scrum, and CI/CD.
• Mandatory UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility and the stated UK nationality, passport, and residency requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree, relevant certifications, or Agile/Scrum Master and cloud training.
• Experience with Git or SVN, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, security best practices, and secure coding.
• Experience with embedded systems or systems programming.
