Senior Embedded Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Hybrid role based at hirify.global sites in Reading, United Kingdom; on-site work is required some of the time to control and debug target hardware.

What you will do

• Analyze requirements with internal and external stakeholders and define technical functionality.
• Design, document, implement, and review production software features for embedded real-time terminal systems.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and validate functionality in simulation and on target hardware.
• Investigate and resolve software issues while maintaining quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
• Own feature planning and delivery within an Agile release roadmap and report progress to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct peer reviews, and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Strong C++ development experience on embedded systems.
• Experience delivering reliable real-time embedded functionality across the full development lifecycle.
• Good knowledge of Linux and FreeRTOS.
• Understanding of physical interfaces including Serial, Ethernet, SPI, and CAN.
• Experience with hardware debugging, performance characterization, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Confluence.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced Agile team with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
