Senior Modelling and Simulation Engineer

Location: Full-time onsite in Warminster, Wiltshire, five days per week. Five years' UK residency and eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC) are mandatory.

What you will do

• Develop and adapt models using customer data, subject-matter expertise, and training requirements.
• Implement behavioural logic, effects, interactions, and environmental responses with a focus on representative and computationally efficient behaviour.
• Calibrate and tune models to balance fidelity, performance, and scalability.
• Design reusable, composable models and ensure coherent timing, synchronisation, and interactions across integrated systems.
• Integrate models with simulation components, terrain and environment systems, and external systems through HLA, DIS, and APIs.
• Own a primary modelling area, collaborate with simulation and QA engineers, mentor colleagues, and improve models based on validation and exercise feedback.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in high-performance C++ and Python.
• Experience designing and delivering real-time systems, simulation components, or simulation engines.
• Knowledge of agent-based, behavioural, CNI, and physics/effects modelling approaches.
• Extensive experience with model calibration, representational fidelity, and real-time simulation constraints.
• Experience with real-time 3D simulation and visualisation platforms such as Unity and Unreal Engine.
• Experience defining modelling architecture and reuse strategies across a programme, plus the ability to guide and mentor other engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience in military capability, human behaviour, environmental, terrain, or GIS modelling.
• Experience designing models for integration into wider simulation ecosystems.
