Senior Spectrum Systems Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Mallorca, Spain; Porto, Portugal; or Tenerife, Spain. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen location.

What you will do

• Translate spectrum regulations and constraints, including EPFD, PFD, and EIRP, into system and subsystem requirements.
• Build and maintain end-to-end simulation models for interference and spectrum compliance.
• Define design-to-compliance limits for satellite payloads and user terminals.
• Model interference, coexistence, and mitigation strategies across satellite constellations.
• Produce datasets for ITU filings and coordination, and lead ground and in-orbit verification and validation.
• Develop spectrum usage strategies involving frequency reuse, beam hopping, and power control, while supporting ITU-R and WRC engagement.

Requirements

• Strong systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements management and verification and validation, ideally in an MBSE environment.
• Deep knowledge of RF spectrum compliance, including EPFD, PFD, EIRP, and emissions.
• Experience with Visualyse EPFD, STK, or similar tools.
• Strong Python or MATLAB skills for simulation and analysis.
• Understanding of LEO systems, link budgets, orbital dynamics, ITU-R regulations, and NGSO systems.
• Legal right to work in the selected work location; CV must be submitted in English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DVB-S2X, 3GPP NTN, or similar standards.
