TL;DR
Mass Spectrometry Chemist (Uranium Isotopic Analysis) (isotope-ratio MS/ICP-MS): Building and operating analytical measurement capabilities for uranium isotopic analysis to support enrichment monitoring and nuclear fuel product certification with an accent on method development, instrumentation reliability, and rigorous QA/QC. Focus on validating measurement workflows, integrating mass spectrometry with sample handling and automation, and producing accurate data for regulatory reporting and production decisions.

Location: On-site in Los Angeles, CA or Paducah, KY

Base salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually

hirify.global is developing uranium enrichment services in the United States to support nuclear fuel production and next-generation nuclear reactors.

What you will do

  • Develop, optimize, validate, and execute analytical methods for uranium isotopic analysis using isotope-ratio mass spectrometry and ICP-MS.
  • Perform isotopic sampling, sample preparation, and measurement workflows for enrichment monitoring and product certification.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instrumentation.
  • Integrate measurement systems with sample-handling workflows and support automation and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Chemistry, Operations, Product Certification, and Engineering to define analytical requirements and deliver decision-supporting results.
  • Document methods, maintain QA/QC protocols, and support regulatory and compliance reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with mass spectrometry techniques such as ICP-MS or isotope-ratio MS.
  • Experience developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing analytical methods and instrumentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in data collection, analysis, and documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and access authorization for work with nuclear materials.
  • Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA or Paducah, KY, including extended hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Experience with uranium isotopic analysis, nuclear materials characterization, or safeguards measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with TIMS, MC-ICP-MS, or other isotope-ratio mass spectrometry platforms.
  • Experience in DOE national laboratories, NRC-licensed facilities, nuclear fuel-cycle companies, or instrumentation vendors.
  • Experience with method validation, DOE/NRC/ISO compliance, or analytical chemistry quality assurance.
  • Fast-paced startup experience and strong cross-functional communication skills.
