Senior Scientist, Analytical Sciences (Pharmaceutical R&D)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for biologic and small molecule drug substances and products using LC-MS and other biophysical techniques.
• Conduct hands-on experiments and coordinate with external testing sites to characterize drug substances and drug products.
• Plan projects, map resources, and schedule timelines to support product development and flight milestones.
• Train junior scientists and ensure the generation of high-quality analytical data.
• Collaborate with product development, formulation sciences, and engineering groups on drug development activities.
• Author methods, protocols, validation reports, and regulatory filings.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with a Ph.D. or 6 years with an M.S.
• Demonstrated experience developing methods for regulated filings and workflows.
• Experience developing characterization methods for biologics and small molecule APIs.
• Experience with LC-MS analysis of intact, subunit, and peptide-mapped complex biologics.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required due to ITAR and export-control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with UV, DLS, DSF, NMR, CD, FTIR, Raman, and particle sizing technologies.
• Experience with HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS/MS, SEC-MALS, GC-MS, CE-SDS, icIEF, and SDS-PAGE.
• Publications, IND/BLA/NDA filings, or presentations at scientific conferences.
• Experience owning technical projects across their full lifecycle.
