Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded C/C++)

Location: Andover, Massachusetts, United States; professional office environment

Salary: $120,675–$145,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and business needs; eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Architect, design, implement, verify, and validate embedded firmware.
• Develop firmware for mass flow controllers and metering technologies.
• Partner with customers to understand application needs and resolve integration challenges.
• Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and diagnostics at board and system level.
• Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, and scientists on complex technical challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing embedded systems and algorithms.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Hands-on experience with emulators, oscilloscopes, and communication bus analyzers.
• Applicants may need to qualify as U.S. persons for positions involving ITAR- or EAR-controlled goods and technologies.
• MKS generally hires candidates residing in states where it is registered to do business.

Nice to have

• Experience with EtherCAT, DeviceNet, or similar industrial field buses.
• Familiarity with Python or FreeRTOS.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, and other board-level communication protocols.
• Experience with STM32 microcontrollers.
• Component- and board-level troubleshooting skills.
