Firmware Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Huntington Beach, California, United States

Salary: $125,000–$160,000 for Firmware Engineer; $165,000–$220,000 for Senior Firmware Engineer, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and develop embedded firmware for control and operation of aerospace defense systems.
• Prototype, specify, integrate, and troubleshoot embedded system designs.
• Implement control algorithms for precise movement and operation of vehicle systems.
• Integrate firmware with hardware in collaboration with hardware engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Document software designs, specifications, and testing protocols.
• Ensure software meets defense-industry standards for quality, performance, and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with embedded systems for aerospace applications.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Rust, or similar embedded programming languages.
• Experience with RTOS, microcontrollers, embedded software development, and prototyping.
• Ability to work on-site in Huntington Beach, California.
• U.S. security clearance eligibility and authorization to work in the United States are required.

Nice to have

• Rust experience, especially with the Embassy framework.
• Knowledge of SPI, I2C, and UART communication protocols.
• Experience writing drivers for complex sensors such as IMUs and LIDAR.
