Senior Network Systems Engineer (Fortinet)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite

Base salary: $155,000–$182,000 USD per year, plus potential equity, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise network end to end across campus, WAN, wireless, VPN, data center, manufacturing, and test engineering environments.
• Implement and operate firewall policy and network controls across segmented zones in partnership with Cybersecurity.
• Support manufacturing and test equipment with static addressing, limited patchability, restricted internet access, and inflexible connectivity requirements.
• Maintain hybrid connectivity to Azure and AWS, including the underlying VMware networking.
• Preserve segmentation as the business grows and establish network standards, diagrams, and change practices.
• Serve as the final escalation point for enterprise network architecture, segmentation design, and operations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting internal OT in manufacturing, testing, laboratories, or production environments.
• Experience owning a multi-site network estate as the primary owner and final escalation point.
• Strong enterprise firewall and switching experience at the policy and architecture level; Fortinet experience is helpful.
• Experience with VLAN and Layer 3 design, routing, firewall policy, VMware networking, and hybrid connectivity to at least one major cloud.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining segmented networks during rapid manufacturing or test-function growth.
• Experience as the only network engineer in an organization.
• Experience resolving firewall or access decisions with a dedicated security function.
• Experience working with controls or automation engineers on the IT/OT boundary.
• Interest in industrial network architecture and OT security.
• Professional or expert-level routing and switching or major security-platform certification.
