Sheet Metal Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Establish and operate an internal sheet metal fabrication shop for complex aerospace components.
• Define forming, cutting, joining, and process-control methods, and create work instructions and control plans.
• Own shop scheduling, capacity planning, demand planning, build priorities, and delivery-risk management.
• Troubleshoot production issues, resolve non-conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain on DFM, materials, traceability, and procurement.
• Lead equipment specification, procurement, qualification, installation, and continuous improvement while mentoring technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, process development, or test engineering for aerospace or high-performance hardware, including internships or project teams.
• Knowledge of aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium sheet-metal properties and behavior.
• Working knowledge of forming, cutting, joining, and related process controls.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action skills.
• Must work hands-on on the production floor daily and meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with medium- to high-volume manufacturing operations and sheet metal cutting, forming, or welding.
• Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or MES systems.
• Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, DFM/DFA, SPC, or Lean manufacturing.
• Experience in aerospace hardware development or rapid-iteration R&D environments.
