Senior Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Specialist

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; requires working off shifts for training and observations and traveling between facilities as needed.

Annual base salary: $92,000–$127,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and execute workplace health and safety plans with the Head of HSSE.
• Evaluate facilities, practices, and procedures for risks and compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
• Develop work instructions and SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement plans for safety and the work environment.
• Conduct inspections, audits, training, and presentations on health, safety, and accident prevention.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, support workers’ compensation claims, and recommend preventive measures.
• Champion the Near Miss Program and provide in-house training for powered industrial vehicles, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience, primarily focused on HSSE responsibilities.
• Experience as a successful HSSE practitioner and strong knowledge of legal health and safety guidelines.
• Experience with combustible dusts and applicable OSHA and NFPA regulations.
• Ability to produce reports, develop policies, perform data analysis, and conduct risk assessments.
• Ability to train individuals and groups, work off shifts, and travel between facilities as needed.
• Strong organizational, motivational, communication, interpersonal, observation, and attention-to-detail skills; general knowledge of waste streams and recovery systems.

Nice to have

• Laser experience qualifying the specialist to serve as a Laser Safety Officer.
• Experience with powered industrial vehicles, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
