Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States. Full-time onsite work at Project Ranger is required, including support outside normal business hours when needed. The role may require access to restricted U.S. Government sites and export-controlled information, with applicable U.S. eligibility, authorization, or security-clearance requirements.

What you will do
- Provide daily, field-oriented EHS support across construction, facility buildout, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, commissioning, and site operations.
- Identify workplace, equipment, chemical, construction, electrical, ergonomic, machine-safety, hazardous-energy, and operational risks, then develop practical controls with engineering and operations.
- Lead and support JHAs, PHAs, What-If analyses, equipment and process reviews, Management of Change, pre-startup reviews, commissioning, and operational-readiness activities.
- Develop and continuously improve EHS programs, SOPs, work instructions, inspection tools, training, and corrective-action processes.
- Conduct inspections, walkdowns, incident and near-miss investigations, industrial-hygiene assessments, environmental-compliance activities, and emergency-preparedness work.
- Support energetic-material and explosives operations, including explosives-safety controls, ATF requirements, storage and inventory controls, hazardous-waste management, and required records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of EHS, safety engineering, manufacturing safety, process safety, or related industrial experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, industrial EHS programs, and DoD Manual 4145.26 for ammunition, explosives, or energetic-material operations.
- Experience developing EHS programs and training, conducting hazard assessments and investigations, managing corrective actions, and supporting equipment installation, facility modification, commissioning, or startup.
- Ability to interpret equipment specifications, process documentation, engineering drawings, P&IDs, SDSs, and operating procedures and translate requirements into practical controls.
- Ability to work full-time onsite in New Mexico and meet U.S. export-control requirements under ITAR or EAR.
Nice to have
- Experience with energetic materials, propulsion manufacturing, test operations, high-hazard manufacturing, or facility ramp-up from construction through production.
- Experience with machine safeguarding, hazardous-energy control, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, or environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with ATF explosives requirements and applicable NFPA standards.
- OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, ASP, CSP, or similar training or certification.
