TL;DR
EHS Engineer (Aerospace/Defense): Providing hands-on environmental, health, and safety support for manufacturing, R&D, and development testing with an accent on technical hazard evaluation, industrial hygiene, and practical engineering controls. Focus on assessing complex equipment and test operations, leading risk assessments and incident investigations, and implementing safeguards across aerospace and advanced manufacturing processes.

Location: Full-time onsite in Torrance, California, with support for operations outside normal business hours when required

What you will do

  • Provide hands-on EHS support across manufacturing, R&D, development testing, maintenance, and facility operations.
  • Identify workplace, equipment, process, and test hazards and develop engineering, administrative, and procedural controls.
  • Lead and support JHAs, PHAs, FMEAs, What-If analyses, equipment reviews, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Evaluate EHS requirements for new and modified equipment, processes, and test systems before commissioning.
  • Support industrial hygiene activities, exposure assessments, sampling strategies, ventilation, chemical safety, and work-practice controls.
  • Investigate incidents and high-potential near misses, verify corrective actions, and conduct field assessments and operational walkdowns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, or a related technical field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in EHS engineering, safety engineering, manufacturing safety, process safety, or a related technical role in an industrial environment.
  • Experience conducting technical hazard and risk assessments for equipment, manufacturing processes, or test operations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements and programs including machine safety, LOTO, electrical safety, Hazard Communication, PPE, and respiratory protection.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, process documentation, and test setups and translate hazards into practical controls.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Torrance, California and meet U.S. export control requirements under ITAR or EAR.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, composites, R&D, or complex technical environments.
  • Experience with pressure, thermal, vibration, mechanical, electrical, or hardware qualification testing.
  • Knowledge of PHA, What-If, FMEA, HAZOP, equipment safety reviews, commissioning, Management of Change, or safety-in-design.
  • Industrial hygiene experience involving exposure assessment, ventilation, noise, chemicals, or non-ionizing radiation.
  • OSHA 30, ASP, CSP, CIH, ISO 45001, or ISO 14001 experience or certification.
