China Customs Manager

Location: Shenzhen, Nanshan, China; responsibilities also cover the Dongguan site.

hirify.global is hiring for its legal team to drive global trade compliance operations in China.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end import and export operations for the Shenzhen and Dongguan sites, partnering with supply chain teams, logistics providers, and customs brokers.
• Lead local trade teams in resolving shipment delays, customs clearance challenges, and regulatory issues while monitoring performance metrics and implementing improvements.
• Supervise HS code classification, country of origin, customs valuation, and import/export licensing compliance.
• Interface with customs and other government authorities on operations, compliance risks, audits, and inquiries.
• Advise business stakeholders on daily customs and trade operations and support implementation of the global import compliance program.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses; implement corrective actions, deliver training, identify duty savings opportunities, and assess AEO upgrading.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, international business, supply chain, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in China customs operations and compliance.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
• Proven proficiency across the activities described in the core responsibilities, including customs clearance efficiency enhancement.
• Strong analytical, risk mitigation, communication, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced global environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Global Trade Management or ERP-based compliance tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with customs operations and compliance in Hong Kong and the APAC region.
• Solid experience in prestigious law firms and consulting firms.
