Functional Analyst (Banking/Financial Software)

What you will do

• Engage with Italian-speaking client stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document business and functional requirements for a European public sector project.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze current and target processes, identify gaps, and support solution design.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, architects, and business representatives throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare functional test scenarios and participate in system testing, SIT, and UAT activities.
• Maintain alignment on scope, priorities, timelines, risks, and deliverables while identifying process and documentation improvements.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of professional experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, or developer with strong business analysis skills.
• Experience in functional analysis within banking, financial software, or complex enterprise applications.
• Professional working proficiency in Italian and English, spoken and written, is required.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, functional analysis, and functional testing practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to write functional specifications, process descriptions, test scenarios, and user-facing materials.

Nice to have

• Experience with banking systems or financial applications.
• Knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
• Developer experience with motivation to reskill into a functional role.
