Senior Firmware Engineer (PCIe)

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD per year, determined by location, experience, and comparable internal compensation.

What you will do

• Architect and develop firmware and microcontroller subsystems for SoC and systems products.
• Implement differentiating product features in embedded firmware.
• Develop firmware for on-chip microcontrollers and C-based SDKs for system management controllers such as BMCs.
• Architect and verify hardware-software interfaces on complex SoCs in collaboration with logic designers.
• Support customer-facing technical discussions and prepare for customer meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience developing or supporting complex SoC or silicon products for server, storage, or networking applications.
• Professional experience developing embedded firmware for PCIe products and working with MQX RTOS or ThreadX.
• High proficiency in C or C++, including C-based SDK development, and Python for automation and firmware quality control.
• Working knowledge of GCC, Make, Doxygen, GitHub, and software or firmware build environments.
• Hands-on experience with server, storage, or networking equipment and high-speed interfaces such as PCIe Gen 3+, 100/400G Ethernet, InfiniBand, and NVMe.

Nice to have

• Experience with OCP, OpenBMC, or similar industry forums and collaboration workgroups.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
