Associate Director or Director of Alliance Management (AI)

Location: Remote - US; onsite work is preferred at the San Diego headquarters, with hybrid options available for suitable candidates.

Salary: Associate Director $155,000–$195,000; Director $175,000–$240,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead alliance management for AI-enabled drug discovery collaborations and strategic external partnerships.
• Build trusted relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and technology partners across scientific, operational, and executive levels.
• Lead collaboration governance through Joint Steering Committees, scientific working groups, executive reviews, agendas, action tracking, and decision documentation.
• Coordinate execution across machine learning, computational chemistry, biology, medicinal chemistry, software engineering, legal, and business development teams.
• Maintain collaboration plans covering timelines, milestones, partner commitments, contractual obligations, budgets, and partnership metrics.
• Identify risks, track dependencies, resolve issues, prepare executive updates, and support new strategic collaborations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, engineering, business, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience for Associate Director or 12+ years for Director in alliance management, scientific program management, project management, or scientific operations.
• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or AI-driven life sciences, including small-molecule drug discovery.
• Experience managing complex scientific collaborations and strategic partnerships.
• Understanding of drug discovery, machine learning, or computational research environments.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI, machine learning, computational biology, computational chemistry, or AI-enabled drug discovery organizations.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, or technology collaborations.
• Familiarity with collaboration agreements, governance structures, and cross-company research programs.
• Alliance Management (ASAP), PMP, or similar certification.
