Salary: $93,000–$133,000 CAD annually, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Design and implement optical test and verification strategies for products from initial design and new product introduction through volume manufacturing.
  • Develop, test, document, and support robust, scalable optical test automation applications.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, processing, and quality engineering teams to meet or exceed product requirements.
  • Automate interactions between devices under test and electrical and optical test equipment.
  • Share optical development and process automation best practices with other engineering teams.
  • Support process engineers at manufacturing sites in Asia.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of optics, including fiber optics, free-space optics, and related components and subsystems.
  • 2–5 years of industry experience calibrating and testing optical communication components and subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment, programming, and automation.
  • Proficiency in C#, VB.NET, and .NET frameworks and libraries.
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, SVN or Git, peer code reviews, manufacturing data analytics, and statistical analysis.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with free-space optical systems.
  • Experience testing silicon photonics.
  • Experience designing or testing optical components and subsystems for optical communications.
