People Operations

Location: New York, NY; hybrid work

Base salary: $130K–$170K per year

What you will do

• Own onboarding and offboarding, including offer letters, I-9 verification, background checks, access setup, check-ins, and exit processes.
• Run payroll operations and manage benefits administration, enrollment, carrier coordination, stipends, and employee support.
• Own people compliance across active states, including registrations, insurance, filings, records, and handbook maintenance.
• Lead employee engagement, performance management support, and feedback initiatives.
• Coordinate office gatherings, employer branding events, team outings, and future office relocation efforts.
• Administer equity in Carta and partner with leadership on headcount planning, compensation, recruiting operations, and candidate experience.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or related program management.
• Experience working in scaling startups without a fully staffed HR team.
• Hands-on experience with Gusto or Rippling, Carta, PEOs, and compliance platforms such as Vanta, Mosey, or AbstractOps.
• Experience independently owning a people operations or back-office function.
• Ability to work across people, finance, and administrative functions and handle sensitive conversations with judgment and empathy.
• Fluency with AI tools is required as part of the daily workflow.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting or leading a PEO migration.
• Familiarity with federal contracting compliance from a people or HR perspective.
• Experience with SOC 2 or similar security frameworks in People Operations.
