People Operations Leader

Location: Fully remote; travel to Los Angeles as needed, usually quarterly and for offsites

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own onboarding, offboarding, policy and leave administration, benefits, payroll, and compliance operations.
• Manage benefits end to end, including employee support, leave management, open enrollment, vendor relationships, and benchmarking.
• Design and operate HRIS processes, maintain accurate personnel data, evaluate systems, and lead a future HRIS migration.
• Manage the PEO relationship and support payroll and compliance across multiple states.
• Manage people reporting, including headcount and attrition data, to support business decisions.
• Improve people policies, processes, and operational responsiveness for employees and managers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in People Operations or HR Operations, ideally in a Series B–D startup.
• Experience with HRIS systems and PEOs; HRIS migration experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of multi-state employment compliance.
• Builder’s mindset with a focus on improving inefficient processes.
• High ownership and willingness to work hands-on as an individual contributor.
• Strong judgment and care when handling ambiguous people operations situations.
