Senior Claims Examiner, Misc. Professional Liability

Location: Red Bank, New Jersey, United States. US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $78,000–$107,250 annual base salary, with a 15% incentive.

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, negotiate, and settle complex primary and excess miscellaneous professional liability claims.
• Determine coverage, prepare routine and complex coverage correspondence, and manage claims involving coverage litigation.
• Manage nationwide litigation, including appointing and directing defense counsel and pursuing economical claim resolution.
• Set loss and expense reserves, evaluate settlement values, and coordinate with underwriting, claims vendors, payment, and collections teams.
• Communicate adverse developments, maintain reporting standards, and support claims initiatives.
• Provide training and act as a technical referral point for other claims examiners.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience preferred.
• Experience with insurance coverage analysis, contractual obligations, investigations, complex litigation, reserves, and settlement evaluation.
• College degree and/or professional designation required; JD preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, analytical ability, and action-planning skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload proactively and collaborate across the Claims Unit and Professional Liability Division.
• Travel as necessary, approximately 10%.

Nice to have

• Excess liability claims or litigation experience, including quota share, first-layer, or high-layer claims.
• Insurance coverage litigation experience.
