CA - Senior Claims Adjuster, Worker's Compensation

Location: Remote; must live and work in the United States, excluding territories, with reliable high-speed internet.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 USD per year, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Independently manage California workers’ compensation claims from setup through closure.
• Evaluate complex, high-dollar, high-exposure claims and make timely compensability and reserve decisions.
• Investigate claims, administer statutory medical and indemnity benefits, and identify mitigation and early-resolution opportunities.
• Manage defense counsel, litigation activity, legal costs, and settlement negotiations.
• Support agents, insureds, and business partners with claim guidance, status updates, coverage verification, and loss-run reports.
• Improve claims operations, service processes, handling procedures, and protocols while mentoring junior adjusters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 5 years of workers’ compensation claims-adjusting experience required; carrier experience preferred.
• Experience handling California workers’ compensation claims required.
• Active licensing in applicable states.
• Advanced knowledge of jurisdictional regulatory and statutory requirements, CMS/MSA requirements, claim adjudication, medical management, and litigation management.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to work independently and mentor junior adjusters.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with some college coursework.
• Experience with G-Suite tools and collaboration platforms such as Slack.
