Controller (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Build a cost accounting model covering labor, materials, equipment, and facility overhead to establish shop rates and standard costs.
• Design cost categories that support operational, financial, and accounting requirements.
• Own inventory valuation, depreciation rules, revenue recognition, sales tax, and multi-state compliance.
• Implement internal controls, approval workflows, authorization limits, and financial governance.
• Lead monthly and year-end close in partnership with the outsourced accounting firm, while owning AP, AR, invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and cash application.
• Evaluate and implement accounting and ERP systems, prepare investor-ready financial packages and board reports, and manage auditors, tax preparers, banking partners, debt covenants, lender reporting, and payroll compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or a similar production environment.
• Experience building cost accounting models from scratch, including labor, material, and overhead allocation, and using them to set pricing or internal rates.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and cost accounting principles.
• Experience owning full-cycle accounting, including close, AP/AR, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

Nice to have

• CPA qualification or active pursuit of a CPA license.
• Experience managing an outsourced accounting or bookkeeping relationship.
• Startup or small-team experience building finance and accounting functions from scratch.
• Experience supporting headcount growth, multi-facility operations, or multi-state expansion.
