TL;DR
Build Engineer Internship (Fall Term 2026) (Aerospace): Building and assembling ground support equipment, R&D prototypes, and flight hardware with an accent on mechanical assembly, production tooling, and repeatable documentation. Focus on design-for-manufacturability improvements, outsourced manufacturing support, and maintaining safe, efficient build environments.

Location: Onsite at the Broomfield, Colorado headquarters. Relocation support is available.

Hourly rate: $25–$29 per hour

hirify.global develops very low Earth orbit satellite buses, integrated satellites, and turnkey missions for sensing, communications, and responsive operations.

What you will do

  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electromechanical assembly of ground support equipment, R&D prototypes, and flight hardware.
  • Help design production workspaces, tooling, and inventory systems to improve build efficiency.
  • Maintain lab organization, tooling readiness, consumable stock, and safety compliance.
  • Create and refine work instructions, build documentation, and configuration tracking.
  • Support outsourced manufacturing through kit preparation, documentation handoff, onsite build support, and post-build reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendors on design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly improvements.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience building or assembling mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Comfort using mechanical tools, shop equipment, calipers, torque tools, and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Onshape.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person and meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, or PCB assembly.
  • Experience writing work instructions or maintaining build documentation.
