TL;DR
Build Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, assembling, testing, and transitioning complex flight-vehicle hardware from prototype to production with an accent on manufacturing, tooling, vehicle integration, and flight readiness. Focus on developing full-stack build processes, running flight-hardware tests, and simplifying production flows under aggressive delivery timelines.

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; on-site. Travel to test sites, other offices, and partner locations may be required for up to 25% of the time.

Salary: $91,800–$140,250 per year. Build Engineer I: $91,800–$112,200; Build Engineer II: $114,750–$140,250.

What you will do

  • Plan projects and drive delivery of flight-vehicle hardware on aggressive timelines.
  • Convert high-level engineering concepts into detailed designs, including geometry, materials, and design for manufacturing.
  • Transition complex aerospace assemblies from prototype to production.
  • Design and implement build processes covering factory layout, tooling, testing, and vehicle integration.
  • Develop and execute test procedures for flight hardware.
  • Collaborate across design, production, and test teams to improve processes and eliminate waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
  • Strong engineering first-principles knowledge and hands-on experience with physical hardware.
  • Ability to design, build, break, and iterate quickly.
  • Comfort using CAD, test equipment, and hand tools.
  • Familiarity with machining, welding, forming, and other manufacturing processes, plus GD&T fundamentals.
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export-control regulations or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing and releasing flight hardware.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter and NX.
  • Leadership or mentorship experience on project teams.
  • Experience building production lines or test infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.
