Senior Director, SEC Reporting & SOX (Biotech)

Location: Millbrae, California, United States

Salary: $235,000–$283,500 annually, depending on skills, competency, and market demand.

What you will do

• Lead SEC reporting strategy and execution, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other required filings.
• Build and continuously improve the SOX compliance framework, including risk assessment, control design, documentation, testing, remediation, and optimization.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, disclosures, US GAAP, and SEC requirements.
• Coordinate reporting and audit activities with Accounting, Legal, FP&A, Stock Administration, IT, Internal Audit, external auditors, and advisors.
• Develop financial reporting policies, governance structures, scalable systems, and cross-functional processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the SEC reporting and SOX organization while advising executive leadership on reporting, compliance, and risk management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience, or a postgraduate degree in Finance and Accounting.
• 12+ years of public accounting and/or related industry experience, including 6+ years focused on technical accounting.
• Extensive experience leading SEC reporting and SOX compliance in a public or recently public company.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX, and internal control frameworks.
• Experience building and scaling teams, systems, and processes in high-growth environments.
• Strong communication, influence, negotiation, judgment, and executive stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Biotech or life sciences experience.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and ActiveDisclosure.
• CPA, CIA, or similar certification.
