Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States. Hybrid schedule with three days in the office and remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other regulatory filings.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex agreements, accounting standards, and US GAAP compliance.
• Draft technical accounting memoranda and conduct independent accounting research.
• Manage the SEC reporting calendar and coordinate supporting disclosures across functions.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and audits.
• Lead accurate and timely financial reporting while ensuring SOX compliance and developing accounting teams.

Requirements

• CPA certification and an accounting degree.
• At least 9 years of assurance or audit experience at a Big Four public accounting firm.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting regulations, financial reporting standards, and technical accounting principles.
• Experience managing SEC filings and external reporting processes.
• Ability to research and interpret complex accounting guidance, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and accounting team leadership abilities.
