TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer I/II (Aerospace): Building and integrating Neutron launch vehicle structures, flight hardware, tooling, and processing facilities with an accent on manufacturing processes, large-assembly integration, and test procedures. Focus on developing work instructions, improving throughput and error prevention, and solving complex vehicle integration challenges across mechanical, electrical, fluid, and avionics systems.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's Space Structures Complex in Middle River, Maryland, United States. U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base pay range: $77,000–$119,000 USD annually, depending on level, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

What you will do

  • Plan and execute the build and integration of Neutron and associated flight hardware.
  • Develop ground-support tooling, handling methods, build processes, and processing facilities for components, large assemblies, and integrated modules.
  • Support first- and second-stage vehicle integration, fluid systems, avionics, and AFTS execution.
  • Develop and refine inspection, repair, assembly, system-test procedures, work instructions, and non-conformance documentation.
  • Maintain integrated planning documents, capture build lessons learned, and drive design and manufacturing improvements.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams while managing multiple priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in industrial, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience building and testing space launch vehicle or similar aerospace and defense hardware; internships and school projects qualify for Manufacturing Engineer I.
  • For Manufacturing Engineer II: 2+ years of experience building and testing relevant aerospace or defense hardware.
  • Ability to model with 3D CAD, produce engineering drawings, and work with large assemblies.
  • For U.S. office work, candidates must meet applicable ITAR requirements, such as being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.
  • Ability to work in office and technical environments, move between production areas, and operate tools and equipment as needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience interfacing with mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
  • Experience developing work instructions, test procedures, and complex assembly build and test processes.
  • Experience with launch vehicle hardware and subsystems, including avionics, high-pressure gas, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
